15 wounded in terror attack at busy Jerusalem intersection

An Arab resident of east Jerusalem rammed his vehicle into a group of soldiers at a central Jerusalem thoroughfare late Monday night, wounding fifteen people, before being shot dead by an off-duty IDF officer, police and rescue officials said.

It was the third such attack in the city in as many months.

The attack took place at the city’s Kikar Tzahal near Jaffa Gate. Two of the casualties were in moderate condition, the rest were lightly hurt.

The area in question is adjacent to east Jerusalem and the Old City of Jerusalem.

The assailant, who was driving a BMW, crashed into a group of off-duty soldiers on the sidewalk, where his car came to a grinding halt.

Jerusalem police chief Aharon Franco said that the attacker was shot dead “within seconds” by an off-duty army man who was touring the city with his unit.

He added that there was no intelligence information ahead of the attack, but noted that Jerusalem is under heavy security alert during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The city’s police chief said that the lone attacker was an Arab resident of east Jerusalem.

The pedestrians wounded in the attack were rushed to Jerusalem’s Hadassah-University Hospital at Ein Kerem, and the city’s Sha’are Tzedek Hospital.

The attack comes after two back-to-back bulldozer attacks in Jerusalem in July which left three Israelis dead and dozens wounded.

Half hour after the attack, dozens of angry haredi residents chased two Arab locals who happened upon the area.

A police helicopter could be heard hovering in the air on a balmy September night.

Many chanted racist slogans such as “Death to the Arabs” and tried to walk toward the Arab neighborhoods of east Jerusalem. Police on horseback were trying to ensure that the violence would not escalate.

The attack comes after two back-to-back bulldozer attacks in Jerusalem in July which left three Israelis dead and dozens wounded.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak called to expedite legal processes so that security forces could demolish homes of terrorists in order to deter future attacks.

They claim they want peace, they claim they are being mistreated by the Zionist Entity… so they resort to terror. Fact is, that they if there was no terror Israel would have long ago left the territories. Not because they are not part of Jewish lands. They have been Jewish lands uninterruptedly since biblical times, but because the drain on the Israeli economy is too high. Because, Israel is not interested in lording over a major non Jewish component in its demographics.

Frankly, whereas a majority of Israelis can easily see a two state solution, the leadership of the Palestinians only sees one state and… it ain’t a Joo state. In fact, it would a state violently and speedily made Jüdenrein – Joo cleansed! The Palestinian leadership, both “moderate” Fatah and Hamas, say so openly they have no problem with such stratements. It’s only the West and the Israeli left that chopose not to listen, not too heed the words. Just like Europe chose not to heed the words of one Adolf Hitler and instead was engulfed in a war that caused 50,000,000 dead… Of course, some out there will tell you that it was all the fault of dem Jooz and some would even love to finish Hitler’s unfinished business.

Meanwhile, Israel’s mentally challenged, myopic leadership, doesn’t get it. Olmert has made it clear (and Tzippy surely agrees) that the concessions for peace may be painful, but the pain must not blind the eyes of Israelis. Fine, let us consider – for the moment – that imbecillic argument. Can anyone answer me… pain in exchange for what?!?!? Further pain, further bloodshed, further misery, on both sides?!?!?!?!? What has Israel gotten in exchange of all the “land for peace,” in exchange for all the “good will gestures?” Simply put, they got lots of what we saw today in Jerusalem!

I’m not a big fan of war, on any shore, but continuous appeasement obviously hasn’t saved any lives.
