I just received an email with the following message, it is a very powerful indictment, a record of the good Senator from Illinois’ blatant and dangerous lies:

To Barack Hussein Obama,

The New York Times carried a story on Saturday, October 4, 2008, that proved you had a significantly closer relationship with Bill Ayers than what you previously admitted. While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

The Chicago Sun reported on May 8, 2008, that FBI records showed that you had a significantly closer relationship with Tony Rezko than what you previously admitted. In the interview, you said that you only saw Mr. Rezko a couple of times a year. The FBI files showed that you saw him weekly. While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

Your speech in Philadelphia on March 18, 2008, about “race” contradicted your statement to Anderson Cooper on March 14 when you said that you never heard Reverend Wright make his negative statements about white America . While your attendance at Trinity Church for 20 years is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on March 14.

In your 1st debate with John McCain, you said that you never said that you would meet with the leaders of Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea without “preparations” at lower levels … Joe Biden repeated your words in his debate with Sarah Palin … while the video tape from your debate last February clearly shows that you answered “I would” to the question of meeting with those leaders within 12 months without “any” preconditions. While your judgement about meeting with enemies of the USA without pre-conditions is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America in the debate with McCain.

On July 14, 2008, you said that you always knew that the surge would work while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you stated that the surge would not work. While your judgement about military strategy as a potential commander-in-chief is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on July 14.

You now claim that your reason for voting against funding for the troops was because the bill did not include a time line for withdrawal, while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you voted against additional funding because you wanted our troops to be removed immediately … not in 16 months after the 2008 election as you now claim. While your judgement about removing our troops unilaterally in 2007 is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about your previous position.

You claim to have a record of working with Republicans while the record shows that the only bill that you sponsored with a Republican was with Chuck Lugar … and it failed. The record shows that you vote 97% in concert with the Democrat party and that you have the most liberal voting record in the Senate. You joined Republicans only 13% of the time in your votes and those 13% were only after agreement from the Democrat party. While it is of concern that you fail to include conservatives in your actions and that you are such a liberal, the greater concern is that you distorted the truth.

In the primary debates of last February, 2008, you claimed to have talked with a “Captain” of a platoon in Afghanistan “the other day” when in fact you had a discussion in 2003 with a Lieutenant who had just been deployed to Afghanistan . You lied in that debate.

In your debates last spring, you claimed to have been a “professor of Constitutional law” when in fact you have never been a professor of Constitutional law. In this last debate, you were careful to say that you “taught a law class” and never mentioned being a “professor of Constitutional law.” You lied last spring..

You and Joe Biden both claimed that John McCain voted against additional funding for our troops when the actual records show the opposite. You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted against funding for alternate energy sources 20 times when the record shows that John McCain specifically voted against funding for bio fuels, especially corn … and he was right …. corn is too expensive at producing ethanol, and using corn to make ethanol increased the price of corn from $2 a bushel to $6 a bushel for food. You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted like both of you for a tax increase on those making as little as $42,000 per year while the voting record clearly shows that John McCain did not vote as you and Joe Biden. You lied to America .

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted with George W. Bush 90% of the time when you know that Democrats also vote 90% of the time with the President (including Joe Biden) because the vast majority of the votes are procedural. You are one of the few who has not voted 90% of the time with the president because you have been missing from the Senate since the day you got elected. While your absence from your job in the Senate is of concern, the greater concern is that you spin the facts.

You did not take an active role in the rescue plan. You claimed that the Senate did not need you while the real reason that you abstained was because of your close relationships with the executives of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Countrywide, and Acorn … who all helped cause the financial problems of today … and they all made major contributions to your campaign. While your relationship with these executives and your protection of them for your brief 3 years in the Senate (along with Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer, Maxine Waters, and Chris Dodd) is of concern, the greater concern is that you are being deceitful.

You forgot to mention that you personally represented Tony Rezko and Acorn. Tony Rezko, an Arab and close friend to you, was convicted of fraud in Chicago real estate transactions that bilked millions of tax dollars from the Illinois government for renovation projects that you sponsored as a state senator … and Acorn has been convicted of voter fraud, real estate sub prime loan intimidation, and illegal campaign contributions. Tony Rezko has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to your political campaigns. You personally used your political positions to steer money to both Tony Rezko and Acorn and you used Acorn to register thousands of phony voters for Democrats and you. While your relationships with Rezko and Acorn are of concern, the greater concern is that you omitted important facts about your relationships with them to America .

During your campaign, you said: “typical white person.” “They cling to their guns and religion.” “They will say that I am black.” You played the race card. You tried to label any criticism about you as racist. You divide America .

You claim that you will reduce taxes for 95% of America , but you forgot to tell America that those reductions are after you remove the Bush tax reductions. You have requested close to $1 billion in earmarks and several million for Acorn. Your social programs will cost America $1 trillion per year and you claim that a reduction in military spending ($100 billion for Iraq ) can pay for it. While your economic plan of adding 30% to the size of our federal government is of concern, the greater concern is that you are deceiving America .

The drain to America ’s economy by foreign supplied oil is $700 billion per year (5% of GDP) while the war in Iraq is $100 billion (less than 1% of GDP). You voted against any increases to oil exploration for the last 3 years and any expansion of nuclear facilities. Yet today, you say that you have always been for more oil and more nuclear. You are lying to America .

Mr. Obama, you claimed that you “changed” your mind about public financing for your campaign because of the money spent by Republican PACs in 2004. The truth is that the Democrat PACs in 2004, 2006, and 2008 spent twice as much as the Republican PACs (especially George Soros and MoveOn.org). You are lying to America .

Mr. Obama, you have done nothing to stop the actions of the teachers union and college professors in the USA . They eliminated religion from our history. They teach pro gay agendas and discuss sex with students as young as first grade. They bring their personal politics into the classrooms. They disparage conservatives. They brainwash our children. They are in it for themselves ….. not America . Are you reluctant to condemn their actions because teachers/professors and the NEA contribute 25% of all money donated to Democrats and none to Republicans? You are deceiving America .

Oh, Mr. Obama, Teddy Roosevelt said about a hundred years ago that we Americans should first look at the character of our leaders before anything else.
Your character looks horrible. While you make good speeches, motivating speeches, your character does not match your rhetoric. You talk the talk, but do not walk the walk.

1. You lied to America . You lied many times. You distorted facts. You parsed your answers like a lawyer.

2. You distorted the record of John McCain in your words and in your advertisements.

3. You had associations with some very bad people for your personal political gains and then lied about those associations.

4. You divide America about race and about class.

Now let me compare your record of lies, distortions, race baiting, and associations to John McCain: War hero. Annapolis graduate with “Country first.” Operational leadership experience like all 43 previously elected presidents of the USA as a Navy officer for 22 years. 26 years in the Senate. Straight talk. Maverick. 54% of the time participated on bills with Democrats. Never asked for an earmark. The only blemish on his record is his part in the Keating 5 debacle about 25 years ago.

Mr. Obama, at Harvard Law School , you learned that the end does not justify the means. You learned that perjury, false witness, dishonesty, distortion of truth are never tolerated. Yet, your dishonesty is overwhelming. Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty that caused the impeachment and disbarment of Bill Clinton. Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty of Scooter Libby. You should be ashamed.

Mr. Obama, it is time for us Americans to put aside our differences on political issues and vote against you because of your dishonest character. It is time for all of us Americans to put aside our political issues and vote for America first. It is time for America to vote for honesty.
Any people who vote for you after understanding that you are dishonest should be ashamed of themselves for making their personal political issues more important than character. Would these same people vote for the anti-Christ if the anti-Christ promised them riches? Would they make a golden calf while Moses was up the mountain? Would they hire someone for a job if that someone lied in an interview? Of course not. So why do some of these people justify their votes for you even though they know you are dishonest? Why do they excuse your dishonesty? Because some of these people are frightened about the future, the economy, and their financial security …. and you are preying on their fears with empty promises …. and because some (especially our young people) are consumed by your wonderful style and promises for “change” like the Germans who voted for Adolf Hitler in 1932. The greed/envy by Germans in 1932 kept them from recognizing Hitler for who he was. They loved his style. Greed and envy are keeping many Americans from recognizing you … your style has camouflaged your dishonesty …. but many of us see you for who you really are … and we will not stop exposing who you are every day, forever if it is necessary.

Mr. Obama, you are dishonest. Anyone who votes for you is enabling dishonesty.

Mr. Obama , America cannot trust that you will put America first in your decisions about the future.

Mr. Obama, you are not the “change” that America deserves. We cannot trust you.

Mr. Obama, You are not ready and not fit to be commander-in-chief.

Mr. Obama, John McCain does not have as much money as your campaign to refute all of your false statements. And for whatever reasons, the mainstream media will not give adequate coverage or research about your lies, distortions, word parsing, bad associations, race baiting, lack of operational leadership experience, and generally dishonest character. The media is diverting our attention from your relationships and ignoring the fact that you lied about those relationships. The fact that you lied is much more important than the relationships themselves …. just like with Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon … Monica Lewinski and Watergate were not nearly as bad as the fact that those men lied about the events … false witness … perjury … your relationships and bad judgements are bad on their own …. but your lies are even worse.

Therefore, by copy of this memo, all who read this memo are asked to send it to everyone else in America before it is too late. We need to do the job that the media will not do. We need to expose your dishonesty so that every person in America understands who you really are before election day.

Mr. Obama, in a democracy, we get what we deserve. And God help America if we deserve you.

By the way, for those of you who believed Obama’s line about never having heard Jeremiah Wright’s anti American, anti white diatribes, please read these on Yid With Lid. There is hardly anything I can add to the above. The record of lies, the record of fraud and misrepresentation, is by far longer than that of many a more experienced politician. Is this man who rose to power with the help of former local terrorists, convicted embezzlers, financial gifts from terrorists convicted in Europe, fit to lead this nation? Can anyone seriously believe that the junior Senator – who hardly attended Senate sessions – is actually capable of leading anything, rather than being manipulated by his despicable associates? Actually, it pains me to say, there are fools who believe this empty suit, with criminal associations is very capable. Unfortunatelly, following Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, one would have expected their quest for truth, their repentance from sin, had also extended to include refraining from lying… Pity!

A Record of Mistruths – Open Letter to Senator Obama | Freedom…

A record – including dates – of good Senator Obama’s most blatant and dangerous lies to the American people….

  3. United States John Belt from Nevada, United States on October 19th, 2008 6:37 am

Well, this will probably get me in trouble…

After 17 years in the US Air Force (most of that spent overseas), I’m now enjoying the opportunity to be a part of the civilian community. I’ve been a registered Republican all my life and was generally proud to be so.

Yet – as greatly as it pains me to say so – I cannot in good conscience vote for Senator McCain for President, though he had always been a hero to me. But actions and decisions taken by him during the past several years have caused me to believe that his past service neither entitles him to the Presidency nor recommends him for that service he deeply desires.

I’ll be voting for Senator Obama and I do it proudly and with same conscientious commitment to country that I tried to live every day as a man in uniform.

Neither of these candidates are perfect. Any rational, reasonable person can create a long list of exaggerations, misstatements (I’ll extend the benefit of the doubt to both and continue to believe them too honorable and too respectful of the electorate to intentionally lie to us) and occasional significant errors in judgment to lay at the feet of both of these good men.

Writing a letter like the one above, which also pretty egregiously exaggerates and misstates public record (reconciled by both liberal and conservative sources) may feel good for the author, but it doesn’t do much to make American voters better or more accurately informed. And it finds the author guilty of the same very human errors the candidates have publicly made and may rightly be asked to explain, though I would hope we’d try to find a way to do so a little more civilly and charitably than this missive does.

What I would suggest, though, and what Senator McCain has publicly stated repeatedly is that Senator Obama is an honorable man, a good family man and a citizen of good character with whom he happens to have some serious fundamental disagreements about governance and the direction the nation should take. Senator Obama has said much the same of Senator McCain.

I’m proud of my service to my nation and of the work I do each day now as a member of a civilian community. I’m exceedingly grateful that there were men who wore the uniform before me (like Senator McCain), who also took pride in their service and that hundreds of thousands of wonderful young men and women choose to carry that burden for us, so that we can engage in the political process going on all across the nation today.

I’m also grateful for those who never wore the uniform yet who served honorably and with conviction and passion in civilian and government service (like Senator Obama) as they sought to improve the quality of their communities and the lots of their fellows.

I even find blessings and cause for celebration in those who engaged with me and others in constructive contention and reasoned, civil disagreement. Iron sharpens iron, and those with whom I disagree help me grow and encourage me to search for better answers and deeper truths. We’re all made better thereby.

Though I suspect Mr. Master feels passionately that this letter represents those deeper truths, too many public records (left and right) and too many people of character, including Senator McCain, would agree that it’s not accurate and that it does not serve the best interests of a civil nation.

I’m positive the last two paragraphs represent Mr. Masters earnest fears and beliefs. But they disallow the possibility that any other rational, honorable person could find himself in honest disagreement with the author, could come to a different conclusion and implies that person needs some special help from our Creator.

That’s not only uncivil and uncharitable, it’s simply intolerant and wrong, no matter how well intentioned, no matter how heart-felt.

And I’m certain that Mr. Masters had better, higher motives when he sat down to write than to incite similar intolerance and fear in others.

    Respectfully -

    John Belt

Beware of the ones who yell liar and then use lies to back up their claims.

I am sorry but this open letter is a joke.

Feel free to join civil discourse when you have come to your senses.

It would take but a little research to refute every one of your claims.

  6. United States Brandi from New York, United States on October 19th, 2008 7:53 am

    John,

Thank you for proudly having served this nation. You write well and thoughtfully but you have failed to show us anything that makes Obama even remotely more qualified than McCain for the job of US President.

  7. United States janeen from Michigan, United States on October 19th, 2008 8:25 am

    John,

    Thank you for your service!
However, I think you should know, that all that you fought for to uphold could seriously disappear if Obama is elected.

I know that we sometimes take our freedoms for granted, but now we must be vigilant to keep those freedoms from leaving us. Obama is trying very hard to turn our Capitalist country into a Socialist one.
People can’t see past the great speeches, that he would like to change this country into a government-run institution.
Regan once said, that the bigger the government, the less voice the people have.
Mr Obama thinks very highly of himself, and in essence, wants to have a “control” on this country. In other words, he knows what is best for us, so don’t ask questions.
Now, think of his experience (next to none) and the people that have influenced him.
Why did he hang around these radical people? Because he finds much in common with them.
I know for all the Obama fans, that this will make you angry, but this man really has no business being the head of the greatest country in the world.
He is hiding alot about himself, and is successful because the main-stream media won’t address it.
He is a power driven man. He dosent care as much about the country, as he cares about being the Pres.
Sorry. Too many really misguided and uninformed people may make the greatest mistake in the world, and elect him.

  8. United States Barbara from New York, United States on October 19th, 2008 8:32 am

Mr. Belt – First let me thank you for your service to this country. As the Descendant of Mayflower passengers and Revolutionary War Soldiers, defending our great country is selfless act and I could never say thanks enough to men like you.

For many years I was a Democrat… then a Progressive. I still tend to lean left on domestic issues and right on foreign policy. HOWEVER, a few years ago I dropped all party affiliation and decided to vote my conscience and not be a “Yellow Dog Dem.”

I admit, I am a member of P.U.M.A. and did & still support Hillary Clinton. I cannot, after seeing the vicious, heinous and despicable way the Obama Camp treated Sen. Clinton, give my vote to Barack Obama. My decision has been cemented by the O-bots non-stop scrubbing of their website & the web of the constant missteps of the Obama Camp, the Hope-Nosis indoctrination of Obama’s followers, the debates — during which Obama never answered a direct question but twisted every answer back around to his tired talking points, Obama’s lies (Ayers, Rezko, ACORN… etc etc), the militant and unladylike deport of Michelle Obama, the misogyny of Obama’s sychophants against Sarah Palin, treating McCain like he’s a crazy old man… the list is endless.

McCain first impressed me as a PTSD sufferer and war camp-survivor. His ‘touchy’ nature and attacking style are classic for PTSD sufferers, of which (as an abuse victim/ survivor) I am one. As an abuse survivor I also know “Watch their ACTIONS, not their WORDS” is our watch-phrase. And Obama’s actions do not speak well of him, neither do Biden’s.

McCain is not perfect and I don’t agree with everything he says but he does have his own ideas and has gone toe to toe against the Bush Crime Family many times in the last 8 years. That alone says a lot in my book.

Cindy McCain has a great deal of class. Their family has an adopted 3-world child and they have never trotted her out to counter the “racism” accusations because, like me, the McCains hold all their family sacred. The Obamas do not.

Finally, Obama’s big playing card is trying to make McCain pay for Bush’s B.S. As McCain himself said BUSH ISN’T RUNNING. Obama has not once really given any solid, tangible debate against McCain’s policies. He can’t because he’s an empty suit.

We are in for a horrible 4 years of that snake oil salesman gets into office. 4 years our country can not afford.

Mr. Belt, my words may not made a dent in your voting choices — but Obama’s Actions should.

It’s funny that people will discredit this letter as lies and exaggeration when it has specific dates and accounts in it. The fact is that if you search the web you will find all of the information is true. The only ones disputing it are the Democrats and Obama. If it were so easy to say that the facts have been proven than tell us why Obama will not pony up his certified birth certificate, medical records, and college paperwork? If there is nothing to hide and the facts speak for themselves, then how come we the people who have the small trace of doubt cannot get the answers to that paperwork. We have a right to know. Sara Palin, Joe Biden, John McCain and even Joe the Plumber have been investigated but Obama has slid clean through the loop protesting the whole way. The end result is no matter how many facts are put out there, nobody who is voting for Obama will believe the facts till he runs us into the ground. I say that if you cannot vote for McCain, then everyone voting for Obama, vote for Ralph Nader instead. At least he has a history and he didn’t vote for the 700 Billion dollar bailout.

I find it interesting that Obama supporters quickly sweep all of Barrack’s lack of experience, questionable associations, flip flops on issues, half truths…or, I won’t call them lies, I’ll call them twists on reality, under the carpet. Are they so hell bent on a change that they are not clearly examining their choice? Are they all OK with this guy who has such a light resume being President? It’s almost like they all took to heart the saying “the grass is greener on the other side”. But, is it? More often than not, those who think the grass is greener on the other side get burnt by the outcome of their choice and regret it later.

Me? I won’t regret my choice. My choice is McCain. McCain truly has this country’s best interests at heart. He’s done nothing but serve this country for years…working with both parties and at times, against his own (don’t see that w/ Obama). What agenda does he have other than to serve as our next President and help restore this country’s greatness?

Anyway, as we move closer to November 4th, maybe the Obama supporters will take another gander at their guy…maybe they’ll acknowledge the nagging feeling they must have in the pit of their stomach…a feeling that’s there because they really don’t know anything about Obama and they really aren’t comfortable with his lack of experience.

But if not, they should consider moving out of the country for a while because the backlash that will be felt from voting an inexperienced, extremely liberal guy into office will be directed at them.

  13. United States Mike from Florida, United States on October 19th, 2008 2:40 pm

Even if half of these “facts” were true, what do you say about Mccain’s dealing with Liddy, Keating, nicaraguan terrorists and taking both sides of every issue he has ever discussed?

  14. United States baz from New York, United States on October 19th, 2008 3:34 pm

I, too, am a Vet… I have voted straight GOP, until 2004… and I agree with everything John Bent said.
As for the letter, I think it’s just a compendium of GOP lies, however, *research* will prove it true to the right, and prove it a lie to the left. So, it’s pointless to address it, since its veracity is in the eye of the beholder.
My main point of posting this, though, is to ask those on the right (and I still consider myself on the right, although not as far as many), to be patriotic enough, should Sen Obama be elected, to give the guy a chance.
The Country is in a real mess, and we HAVE to stop attacking each other. Those on the left are as patriotic, and love America, as much as we do.
There’s just a different world-view, on how to solve the issues. We NEED to work together, to get America back on track, if we love this Country. Please consider dropping all the hate, and vitriol, and open your minds, if Obama wins.
And let’s get this thing back on track.

John Belt: You are what I call an “issueless” voter. To you, based on your letter, the issues are irrelevant. Maybe you don’t have the time to understand them, maybe you can’t. But you have not listed a single policy reason to vote for Obama. Instead, you demonstrate that you have fallen for the cult of personality that drives the Obama campaign. That’s fine. You fought to preserve your right to vote for whatever reason you choose. But you letter won’t convince anybody else because it’s sorely lacking substance. Thank you and good luck.

  19. United States Joe from Texas, United States on October 19th, 2008 5:14 pm

It is sad to see how many fail to discern the TRUTH, even if it be given.
Their hearts are hardened. Have we lost our way?
They walk in darkness. Where is the light?

    God help us!

  20. United States Big0 from New York, United States on October 19th, 2008 5:17 pm

    Baz,

Let me understand this, since I’m rather naive… If there should be incontrovertible documentary evidence that everything in the letter is true, it is still a lie because it goes against Obama. Is that what you are saying?

Wooow, I never thought of it that way… You most definitely make absolute rational sense, no doubt, you convinced me!

Now let’s get one thing straight, all you Obamunists. There is no question in my mind that if McCain should get elected, the majority of the left will scream and terrorize the rest of us. There is also no doubt in my mind that if Obama is elected, the vast majority of the right will bite the bullet and accept the majority will. That’s the real difference between the left and the right!

Baz, has the left given George Bush a fair shake?? NO. Has the left worked with GWB? NO. THey have treated him like CRAP since day one.
BUT, us on the right will never treat Obama that way IF he gets in.

  23. United States Heidi from Colorado, United States on October 19th, 2008 5:24 pm

AND, they have done everything to undermine him. His biggest mistake was to “try” and work with the left. His biggest mistake was in NOT purging all of Clintons and Dem’s OUT..
They have done everything to undermine the war on terror… They have treated our troops like crap, ie Murtha, Reid, etc.

The LIES keep piling up. The first site gives documentation that Ayres and BO shared an office for AT LEAST 3 years. The second site shows that BO gave Ayres’ “Small Schools Workshop” nearly $2 MILLION dollars when he served on the CAC and Woods Funds. I have lost any shred of respect I ever had for Colin Powell, and now I understand why HE never ran for POTUS! Seems like there is hardly enough time to get the truth out to the public at large, perhaps that’s what BO was “banking on” this whole time.

You poor scared people, what are you going to do when Obama wins? Remember, your vote means nothing, at all, unless you live in a state that has laws forcing the electoral college to vote in reflection of the people’s will. It’s all about the electoral college, and if you haven’t notice, McCain lost a LONG LONG time ago. Good game. BTW: I suggest you stop spreading hate and misleading statements, and then attempt to say you’re a patriot doing your duties. And yes, the right WILL bite the bullet, because you insane people are at least smart enough to not let the public know who you ignorant people are. It’s sad to see some of you call yourselves rational people, when any rational person couldn’t possibly conclude once writing down the FACTS, not republican facts, actually factual facts, that McCain is the better candidate. I’m so sick of you ignorant people complaining about VOTER REGISTRATION FRAUD, not VOTER FRAUD, huge huge difference. Read the dockets from your own republican fascists that were filed in court, and you’ll see, it’s not ACORN, its their policies that encourage their workers to sign up fake people, since they pay per registration. It’s okay though, I’m truly not mad at you. I understand that the education system has failed you, and you don’t have critical thinking skills. You’re scared feeble people, and i hope that your God, whoever it is, will forgive you for your prejudice.

  28. United States John Belt from California, United States on October 19th, 2008 7:20 pm

A couple of quick notes as clarification:

    - I appreciate the generosity of those who thanked me for my service. I didn’t bring it up to elicit those responses but to put in context my choice of Obama over McCain. Not many with my background and my political leanings would have made that choice.

    - Brandi – I wasn’t really trying to tell you why you should pick one candidate over the other. The fact is, I’ll respect your vote either way. What I did mean to point out is that the original letter does not seem to me a particularly useful tool for changing anyone’s mind, at least not in a responsible, productive fashion. Hysterical exaggeration and acceptance of a thing as fact simply because we pull a date off a website doesn’t mean the particular data quoted is either accurate or authoritative. I’d feel much more comfortable if people voted for Senator McCain based on something other than an open letter like the one we’re responding to…

    - Dave H – I can appreciate that you think I’m an issueless voter. You’re wrong, but you’d have no way of knowing that, because it wasn’t my goal to lay out an issue comparison. I’m looking for responsible, civil discourse. I value genuine disagreement between people of character and conviction. It was my contention that this open letter does not meet that test.

    - Mairi – By all means, disagree with General Powell. But to lose any shred of respect for a man who’s sacrificed and provided the selfless service he’s given (over 40 years to date) isn’t well considered. To totally devalue the character of a man because you disagree with him speaks against the values that I always hoped that we as Republicans embodied. By all means, disagree with his decision, but don’t demean him nor his contributions to our nation – that deedifies each of us.

I’m a great fan of “West Wing” and a lover of good writing and good thinking. There was a Season Two character, Ainsley Hayes, who – as a Republican – accepted a position in the Democratic administration. Two Republican friends were belittling the Administration when Ainsley calls them to task with the following lines:

“Say they’re smug and superior, say their approach to public policy makes you want to tear your hair out. Say they like high taxes and spending your money. Say they want to take your guns and open your borders, but don’t call them worthless. At least don’t do it in front of me. The people that I have met have been extraordinarily qualified, their intent is good. Their commitment is true, they are righteous, and they are patriots.”

That’s a quality of disagreement I can admire and one which honors the person who makes the case against our own position. We’re all far too human and fallible to play the part of outraged moral arbiter that the open letter takes, from my perspective. And there are far too many things we would find offensive which can be laid at the feet of both of the Presidential candidates. As they are both men of character, I’m convinced that they would both agree that this is so.

When searching for that quote, I found a Blog article by a man named Brian Bailey which probably makes this case more effectively than I do (http://www.leaveitbehind.com/2008/09/dont-call-them.html). It’s worth a read.

Principled, civil disagreement and discourse honor all of us. This open letter does not.

    Respectfully –

    John Belt

I respectfully disagree Mr. Belt. This letter points out the Obama lies.

I don’t think those of us who support McCain are “scared shitless” of losing. We are scared shitless of the thuggery & lying of an Obama Administration.

What are those of us who want solid working POTUS and adminstration to make of articles like this one:
    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2008/10/08/james-carville-hints-riots-if-obama-loses

Should we simply discredit the writer? or pay attention?

I happen to live in a very racially mixed neighborhood which I like. But the Obamabots are in full swing here — and they don’t even know what his policies are! They just know he’s “black” – and become enraged when I point out the gentleman is half-white.

Additionally, seeing this sort of thing at Obama rallies: http://flickr.com/photos/dainsandoval/2939209747/
…which apparently go unchecked by Mr. “I want a fair campaign”s people don’t fill me, as a woman — with confidence. On top of what I already said about the Obama camp’s gang rape of Senator Clinton.

Thank you for the link. So the Chicago Sun should be the Chicago Sun-Times. May 8, 2008 is really March 15, 2008. The FBI is really an FBI mole — and the mole didn’t say Obama saw Rezko weekly. It’s bad enough without the need to embellish it. As I indicated, Mr. Master needs to clean it up.

And search and pass along, too, the article on Obama and his use of Eriksonian (Milton Erikson, MD) conversational hypnosis. It’s just beginning to spread. This is serious stuff, folks. Conversational hypnosis has been used in marketing for years. This is the first time in a presidential campaign. Inform yourselves–even if you are for BO, next election your candidate’s opponent may be using it!!

“…So we became friendly at that point, and through most of my years in the Senate, he was somebody I considered a friend…”

“…We’d continue to have lunches or breakfasts. We’d talk about politics…”

Of course it would be better to look at the article in Chicago Sun-Times of May, 2008. I hope Mr. Master will place the exact link here. At this time I found only the link to the interview in March. If I have time and find more, I’ll let you know in a future message.

IN THE MCCAIN ADMINISTRATION THERE WILL BE NO SOCIAL SECURITY, THE NATIONAL DEBIT WILL BE IN THE TRILLIONS, AMERICAN BASE COMPANIES WILL CONTINUE CLOSING,U.S WILL CONTINUE BORROWING MONEY FROM CHINA, NO FUNDS FOR EDUCATION WHICH MEANS THE FUTURE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPETE ON A GLOBAL SCALE,UNEMPLOYMENT WILL INCREASE, THERE WILL BE CIVIL ARREST, AND MY GENERATION WILL HAVE TO PICK UP THE TAB!!! OH YEAH AND WE WILL STILL BE FIGHTING A WAR THAT TAKES BILLIONS OF TAX PAYERS MONEY PER MONTH!!!

Jessica or whatever your real name is (your tone sounds rather all too familiar… hmnnnn…)

Why don’t you talk instead of screaming, sweetie? When you scream you look alike you are foaming at the mouth. Frankly, it’s not a pretty sight….

McCain warned about the banking crisis in 2005, the link is to the Library of Congress (Thomas). Your Democrat boys like Senator Dodd (who received the highest amount of money from the officers at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, followed by Obama in the #2 spot) killed the proposed legislation. Read here for a full explanation and swallow your venom girl.

What plan to change the whole world? Change is a nice, sweeping, insopiring word but nobody ever heard an explanation. You may like or dislike Bush, but if you took your head out of whatever orifice you are hiding it in you’d know that McCain has clashed quite often with Bush. If Obama wanted to run against Bush, he should have – as McCain reminded him in their last debate – run four years ago.

Since you are bringing Cindy McCain, how about idiot Michelle Obama? Every time she opens her mouth she sounds like a real birdbrain! Check out the African Press International (API). I’m sure even u read the news and the snippets of the phone conversation that were published tell who is real idiot and it’s not Sarah Palin! Governor Palin counts with 87% popularity in her state. No politician of any political stripe in any position, anywhere in the country, ever fared that well!! As for a her being a lousy mother, what makes her lousy? Is it the fact she wouldn’t get nor allow her daughter to get an abortion?!? I thought you pro-choicers respected a woman’s choice whether it was it meant having the child or aborting it! That’s what pro-choice means! Pro means for, choice (according to the dictionary) means: the power, right, or liberty to choose; option. Prochoice means For the right to choose. If there is to be something to choose from obviously there have to be at least two options! But, hey, don’t take my word for it. Look it up yourself. You know how to do that, don’t you sweetie?

No Social Security in the McCain administration? Prove that assinine statement. You can’t! Its existence does not depend on the President. Why don’t you pick a basic civics book and read up (if you know how) what a president can and can not do. By the wayyy, every American President from Carter on (that includes 2 terms of Clinton) agreed that Social Security is in serious need of a major overhaul. None of them could do anything about it, because it is up to the Congress!! Oh while you are at it, let me remind you that the current Congress with a Democrat majority enjoys the lowest popularity of any Congress in American history, even lower than that of President Bush! Swallow your venom girl and be careful not to choke on it, please?

Sarah Palin is definitely not a role model for you, I certainly agree… How many abortions did you have? Oh, did you hear Obama’s running mate Joe Biden lately? He seriously questioned Barack Hussain’s ability to deal with an international crisis! Look it up! You are capable of reading, right? Oh, wait… I understand it’s on youtube so don’t have to strain yourself reading even! I know, I know sweetie, first you have to wipe off your foaming mouth…

  44. United States Sammy Benoit from United States on October 20th, 2008 10:29 pm

    Jessica
You need to read the full paper not just the comics.

First of all what John McCain said was the fundamentals of the economy were sound. And a true leader in the advance of an economic crisis would say that to prevent a panic. Unfortanatly Obama cares more about votes than leadership.

Secondly McCain Didn’t say 250,000 he said five million. And when he said it he indicated that it was a Joke. When Obmama Signed a contract with the Chicago Democratic Socalist Party It was no joke (see http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2008/10/senator-obama-signed-contract-with.html)

and that 250,000 number Obama uses is awful for small buisness

    * Two-thirds of small business profits are earned in households making more than $250,000 per year — the very households Obama is shouting from the rooftops that he will raise taxes on (Source: IRS Statistics of Income Bulletin*). Small business profits are used to create jobs and invest in America. This is the answer to the Obama campaign’s irrelevant claim that the number of small businesses affected will be small — the fact is that the bulk of profits will face a tax hike.

    * Small businesses pay income taxes at the household level. This means that the Obama plan to raise tax rates is a direct tax hike on small businesses — sole proprietorships, partnerships, S-corporations, and family farms

    * The tax rate on the lion’s share of small business income could reach 54.9 percent under a President Obama (the individual top rate will climb from 35 percent to 39.6 percent and the Social Security/Medicare tax rate could climb from 2.9 percent to 15.3 percent. Put those together, and you get 54.9 percent) (Source: http://www.barackobama.com).

    * This 54.9 percent tax rate would be the highest since the Carter Administration, when America suffered through double-digit inflation unemployment and Billy Beer (Source: Congressional Budget Office)

    * America’s 26 million small businesses employers give a paycheck to 116 million employees (Source: Census Bureau). When small business taxes go up, millions of these employees will be at risk of being laid off.

Stick to the facts please.. or at least read the facts.

This is a scarey, racist site!

  46. United States JerHud from New York, United States on October 23rd, 2008 1:44 am

    m,

The racism is not on this site, except on ignorant, biased comments like yours. Blacks have been viciously discriminated against in this country. We broke that cycle through the unrelenting persistence of true black leaders and the willing help of whites who were tired of the rampant discrimination, the injustice and brutal humiliation my race endured. That discrimination also cost this country dearly because by denying us opportunities it wasted precious human assets that could have furthered this nation in its ever going search for perfection. We were finally able to successfully fight desegregation and achieved equality. Certainly, there was blood, there were tears, there was sweat and unceasing hard work to get here.

I proudly served this country in WWII, my oldest son served in Vietnam and two of my grandsons are serving in Iraq. As a black man, I did as much or more for this country than any white man. I reached the highest rungs of my profession through a lot of hard toil, and because against all odds I excelled at my work. So did my children, and hopefully so will grandchildren. Our heritage started in Africa, we did not get here because of our ancestors’ choice! But if you care to examine the truth with an open eye, blacks in this US of A have more rights, more freedoms, than 98% of Africans in Africa.

By your claiming that this site is racist for exposing the truth, you show yourself to be an unthinking, worthless idiot, who is racist by the very fact that you are demeaning the word and the very concept of racism. There are quite a few blacks in this country who could make great American Presidents, Barack Hussein Obama is not one of them!

When a black man or woman makes it as President of the country I was born in, the country I and my family gave and continue giving our blood for, the country we fought for, I want him or her to make it because of his or her true merits Barack Hussein Obama has none!. His well documented record of corruption in Chicago politics, his lack of any significant qualifying achievement, his dangerous associations, his total lack of experience DO NOT in any way, shape or form qualify him for the job he’s seeking. When a black person makes it to presidency I want him or her to get there because he or she is better qualified than any white man or woman. And we certainly have them, but Barack Hussein Obama is not one of them!

Senator Obama is not even a true representative of American blacks, he’s 50% white, 25% Arab and only 25% black. Learn a little about him! Exposing the truth, even when unpalatable is not racist, to claim it is because you can’t dispute the easily verified facts is! We can’t have a president who gets in not through merit but through some quota system he does not deserve.

    m,

If you truly believe that Obama is ready for the presidency I can only tell you that if you are black you are ignorant of the almost 500 years of history our race has in this country. Go and learn it, and you will really understand the meaning of racism and how our race paid dearly for it.

If you are white and are repeating a meaningless mantra instead of an honest intellectually arrived at conviction, I have absolute contempt for you fool!

I actually looked at the Oct 4, 2008 article and it emphatically supports Obama’s assertion of very limited interraction with Mr. Ayers. And the issue of his limited relationship with Mr Rezko has been thouroughly hashed out by the press, including Fox, and there really isn’t anything there. This letter is just digging through the garbage – garbage is the stuff that isn’t useful any more. More of the same tired crap- smear people with lies and call it freedom of speech. It is an abuse of that freedom and an unfortunate reality of what makes this country great.

So here, Mr Masters (if he is in fact a real person)has lied to everyone and the rest of his diatribe is to be treated as equally suspect of lies and deliberate effort to continue the crap that the Republican party and their “independent” supporters spew. It is this deliberate lying to everyone that makes Geoff and whoever sent this to him,”sick and tired of all this political stuff”. This too is obviously an attempt to claim some high road of in presenting “the truth” when in fact, he is the source of the crap that makes us all sick of these campaigns.

I thought this site was dedicated to sensible dialogue.
