Terror in Mumbai and America’s President Elect

Islamic terrorists are on the rampage in Mumbai. As you can see, on the map above, they simultaneously attacked six targets in India’s commerce capital. They claim the reason for their attacks is India’s treatment of Muslims. Frankly, considering the chosen targets it is quite obvious the excuse was an afterthought. If the terrorists really intended to send India a message they should have attacked its army, its police, its governmental offices. The targets chosen, however, were not heavy in security… If these Islamic terrorists really intended to punish India’s treatment of their coreligionists, choosing unarmed targets only emboldens India to rid itself of this terror scourge by whatever means possible!

Killing innocent tourists, attacking hospitals, does not bespeak of bravery. It does not even show the religious convictions of those who would give their lives for their faith… in exchange for 72 virgins. This was not the biggest terror attack in India, over the last 25 years there have been many such attacks throughout the country. Some have resulted in a greater number of dead and wounded, but, this latest one is the best coordinated most sophisticated one. There is no question that it might affect India’s economy, at least in the short run.

While India is the immediately intended target it is also a warning to the West. Therefore, one must ask how a President Obama would react to this situation were it to reoccur (as, unfortunately, it will) under his watch, as head of the free world. Britain, under Gordon Brown, has already scrapped the term “war on terror.” In fact, under Gordon Brown, there are ever more signs of appeasement towards a growing Muslim population. There is serious talk of adapting Sharia law elements into British law in an effort to reach out to a population which, while availing themselves of everything the West hast to offer, shows nothing but intransigence in its behavior towards the infidel majority in whose midst they live.

Based on his campaign rhetoric one must wonder if President Obama will really sit down and have a nice, quite, civilized discussion with terrorist organizations… as they continue to engage in their despicable acts. Terror, only understands one language! Anything less than fighting terror with greater terror towards its leaders will simply be understood as weakness. Magnanimity and appeasement are not options! As the world becomes more sophisticated, so do the terrorists. To relax our guard and regard terrorism in one area of the world as liberation movements rather than squarely identified them as nothing more than thuggish, blood thirsty terrorists is a self defeating proposition. It only encourages these Islamic monsters to shift their theater of operations until they have conquered and can then move on to other, newer, more challenging places.

Much has been said about President Obama’s policies in the Middle East. Mr. Obama has surrounded himself with Brent Scowcroft, James “F… the Jews” Baker, and even the likes of former US Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer (whose Ph D thesis at Columbia concerned Israel’s non right of existence, even if he is a Jew himself) and others of that ilk. You can be sure that Israel’s right to exist or its security will be put on the back burner as new channels of communication and understanding are sought with Syria (in effect neutralizing the UN Tribunal that was about to indict Baby Assad for his involvement in the political murders in Lebanon), and the likes of Hamas and Hizbullah. In spite of the fact that all three are Iran’s clients (Obama did say during the campaign that he’s ready to sit down to talk with Ahmedinajad without preconditions, remember?), the new policies at Foggy Bottom will merely look at Hamas and Hizbullah as “resistanmce movements.” Once their immediate grievances are adressed they will no doubt lay down their weapons, no more terror will they use, and peace will reign in the Middle East and throughout the world… What? You don’t agree, gentle reader?!?!?
