Under the able direction of “Pinch” Sulzberger, the New York Times continues its rapid descent from once being the most read and authoritative newspaper in the world, to currently tottering on the brink of bankruptcy.
Today’s NewsBusters, has the following:
NYT: Make The Mormons Walk To Wal-Mart

In the social circles of the New York Times editorialists, it’s OK to have one kid. Two is pushing the envelope. Three or more is déclassé, and a threat to the survival of the planet.
That being so, there’s really no reason to let any car bigger than a Prius be built. Doing so just encourages the unenlightened to overbreed. And so it is that in its editorial of today, the Grey-but-barren Lady suggests that as a condition of the Detroit bailout, “Congress could consider demanding that Detroit simply phase out S.U.V.’s and vans by a certain date.”
Great idea. Let the Mormons and others who take that “be fruitful and multiply” stuff seriously, like Hasidic Jews, walk to Wal-Mart or wherever else those kind of people go. Lincoln Center is right down the block. Frankly, we don’t see the need for cars at all.
Update: Check Out The Hatch Family in Their SUV!
Jenny Hatch, of the Hatch family pictured here, has written to say:
We went to Utah last week and packed the kids in the car. Tight squeeze, but we made it. If we had a Prius, I guess we could have duck taped a few of the boys to the roof for the eleven hour car ride to Utah.

It is fine for the liberal elite, those arrogant, pompous fools who believe they are smarter and superior to the rest of the country to believe they should only have one or two children, it is their privilege. It is not the job of these self-important elite to dictate how we may or may or may not live according to our religioos beliefs or even how to spend our money. This is another example why the MSM continues to loose its relevance, as it veers further and further out of touch with the average thinking American.
Frankly, the one condition that should be attached to any corporation that receives a bailout should be that those high and mighty executives that proved so unable to keep that corporation profitable be fired from their jobs, sans benefit of the golden parachute given them in the original contract. You can be sure, that will never happen, you can be sure the MSM would never dream of recommending such a condition. Why? Congressmen, most notably the Democrat Party members who feign such touching concern for the little guy, are major recipient of these very same CEOs largesse. By not demanding their removal they are merely protecting their friends while saddling the country a bill that will haunt us for generations. Not only do the irrelevant and their old ideas refuse to die, but they threaten to drag this great country with them as they spiral downwards, fast. Ah, the audacity of irrelevance!

The Hatch family is a beautiful example of how life should be lived. The main, vital, essential ingredient is togetherness. The Mormon people of course have their misfit here and there but so do we. I’m talking about in general, the overview of their lifestyle is magnificent and I applaud and respect their way of life. I am glad that you placed them here in your site.
About cars, I think it was very funny Chaim when you wrote, “Frankly, we don’t see the need for cars at all.” That is a very funny statement but it is also a wise one.
ANyway, it is a great report, thanks!

Dear Mr. Chaim,
It is nice that you called attention to cars being not so important. Yes, I agree that they should phase out the SUVs. But guess what? The car manufacturers are so slow to catch on!!
When they saw the oil spikes they should have IMMEDIATELY stopped all production and concentrated completely on making cars that use very little gas. That would have made a difference in my opinion. Many people would have thought, “That is what I need to help save money for my family.” Instead they are talking the old nonsense about slowly fading SUVs out. Give me a break! What they did until now, obviously di not work. You are right, fire those who helped their company fail or failed to to stop the failing.
Also, I like this Mormon family you showed. The Mormons know what love is.
