Hafiz Al-Assad’s western schooled, physician son – Bashar – was once looked upon as the hope of Syria. Both his country and the West saw upon him as the one who would bring out Syria from its pariah status and into the 20th and 21st centuries. Instead the plight of Syrians has worsened far beyond what it was under Papa Assad. Junior has shown himself utterly incapable as a leader and little more than a tool in the hands of his powerful but utterly corrupt family and the putrid little maggot, Ahmedinajad. Once again I must turn to Kuwait’s Arab Times Editor-in-Chief, Ahmed Al-Jarallah, as he summarizes Bashar Assad’s disgraceful career and the lies he uttered this past Saturday at the opening of the Arab Summit in Damascus:

Lies uttered

By Ahmed Al-Jarallah
Editor-in-Chief, the Arab Times

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad uttered lies and insults at the opening of the Arab League Summit on Saturday. He again washed his hands of the crimes committed by Syria. He blamed Lebanon for its failure to hold presidential elections. He misled the delegates and concealed facts about the political disturbance in Lebanon. On Syria’s interference in the internal affairs of Lebanon, Al-Assad told the same old stories — reiterating that Syria is a victim of baseless accusations from the international community. He said Syria is exerting tremendous efforts to stabilize Lebanon and denied his involvement in the division of Palestine. He seemed to have forgotten the fact that the peace process in the region failed due to Syria’s efforts to realize Iran’s vision to create two governments in Palestine.

Al-Assad’s speech is a cheap attempt at expressing support for those who work against the peace process in the Middle East. He completely deviated from the actual Arab-Israeli problems. He referred to a peace process in Israel, which failed despite several wars waged against it, since it is not really keen on having peace in the region. The Syrian President can’t stop the implementation of his substandard foreign policies, which are being used to carry out Iran’s agenda in the region. He also failed to sever his ties with Hezbollah, which undermined the unity in Lebanon through senseless killings.

Al-Assad expressed hope that the summit in Damascus will yield results supporting Syria and its agenda. Later, he urged the participants to hold another summit in the same place in spite of a low turn out of participants. He believes he will win the support of Arabs through another summit in Damascus. He also unveiled plans of Syria to coordinate with any Arab or non-Arab party to help Lebanon hold its presidential elections and ensure national unity. Again, this is a clear manifestation of his strategy to continue his policy of initiating change in the region without taking any action. This policy has prompted Saudi Arabia and Egypt to warn others about the negative repercussions of Syria’s interference in the internal affairs of its Arab neighbors.

Syria has vowed to serve Iran’s interests over and above the interests of other Arab nations – a promise which encouraged Libyan leader Muammar Al-Gaddafi, who often presents funny ideas. He said Iranians comprise 80 per cent of the population in GCC nations so Arabs are not keen on moving against Iran since they cannot escape from Iran. Al-Gaddafi’s ideas should not be discussed at the Arab summit. These ideas should be heard only in ordinary evening talks. He has no ability to come up with novel ideas except those aimed at creating division among Arabs. He once said that Arabs will win if they form an Israeli government in Palestine…

Baby Assad failed to sever his ties with Hezbullah because he hopes that by serving the interests of the putrid little maggot and the Ayatollahs he might save his neck from the UN Tribunal, which while it’s been in place for a while has yet to have done anything about its mandate to bring Junior and his associates to justice. Why? The international community’s fear of Iran is delaying the Tribunal’s work. With a little bit of luck, Junior just might die of old age before the UN’s Tribunal attends to its mandate. Why then should Bashar Assad not do Iran’s bidding?

On the other hand, as Muammar Khaddafi made it clear, the Arabs are too busy with their petty infighting and narrow interests to present a united front that can stand up to Syria, Iran and salvage Lebanon and themselvesf. And these petty dictators, this third rate politicos – whose only asset is oil and its iron grip over the world economy – hope to one day totally subdue the West, because the West is too pusillanimous to take any action.

Bashar Assad must be tried for his crimes and interference in Lebanon, Bashar Assad must be tried together with the rest of his family and closed knit group of friends for the crimes they perpetrate against their own people, but… the West is in no hurry… they somehow hope the problem will go away… Fat chance!
