Once in the not too distant past, in fact during the first 40+ of its total 60 years, Israel was a country known for its swift responses to any threat, known for its strict non-negotiating stance under the threat of terror… Since then, successive governments have slowly whittled away the legacy of the men who created the country, the men whose blood, whose inspiration, whose leadership brought the fledgling little Jewish State into the realm of regional superpower. Yes, gentle reader, we cannot exclusively blame a single one of the various Israeli governments as having brought Israel to its present State. Many added their mistakes, their lack of gumption, to the equation. However, none performed as badly as the present government – under the direction of Ehud Allmerde.

Unquestionably, there have been grievous mistakes made since Israel’s inception in 1948, but at least the likes of Ben Gurion, Golda Meir, Menachem Begin were men. Yes, even Golda’s attitude and love for the Land of Israel, made her far more manly, far more honorable than Allmerde!. There was a time when the State of Israel was governed by leaders who forcefully defended the Jewish State and did not give up the land in return for empty promises and further terror.

Even Begin, in return for Sinai got peace with Egypt’s Anwar Sadat. Instead, Israel today has a government that threatens, but does little to destroy terrorist infrastructure. Israel has a government that makes gesture after gesture towards the Palestinians while crossing dangerous red lines, in spite of history’s repeated proof of the danger and futility of these very same gestures. All is done so, because that corrupt piece of malodorous vomitus (Ehud Allmerde, my spelling defines him far better than his own – Olmert) wants to avoid a hard earned jail cell. He cares little about the country, even less about its Jewish character, he only cares about his own rotten self!

Following the 1973 Yom Kippur War, then Prime Minister Golda Meir had to face the investigation of the Agranat Commission. Though the Commission cleared her of all wrongdoing, she did the only honorable and manly thing. She resigned!!!! Why?!?!? Because she felt she no longer had the full trust of the people of Israel and thus was no longer fit to lead. Fast forward to today’s Israeli PM… Allmerde never had Golda’s popularity. He came on the coattails of my once glorious commander Arik Sharon who had been disabled by a stroke.

Sharon himself, the politician, was a far cry from the general we all would gladly have given our lives for. It seems that Israeli generals turned politicians, become myopic in their outlook and more interested in their political survival than in the country they once so valiantly and brilliantly once fought for. But… I digress…

Allmerde squandered the Lebanon War in 2006 in a way that Sharon, in spite of his very many political flaws, never would have allowed! Considering the outcome, considering that Hizbullah today is far stronger than before the summer of 2006; one must wonder what was the point of launching that war? If he meant to destroy Hizbullah and save Israel and Lebanon from it, he failed miserably! If he meant to bring back Israel’s two kidnapped soldiers… he failed miserably! In fact considering his idiotic remarks about Israel’s atomic power to Germany’s Der Spiegel, considering his even more foolish and more dangerous remarks to the Knesset, one must also look askance at the PM’s deep lack of any political IQ.

The Wynograd Commission set up to investigate the failure and personal culpability in the last Lebanon War, was highly politicized and avoided pointing a direct finger at PM Allmerde, because it feared that any such criticism would precipitate new elections. In the words of one of its “prestigious” leftist members, the Commission knew that such elections might bring Bibi Netanyahu back as PM. Ah, yes, it is revealing to analyze their supposed quest for truth, it is revealing to see the Israeli Left wing’s total lack concern for democracy!

In today’s IsraelNationalNews.com we are told:

“We have lost all elements of a normal country that should defend itself. We only know how to threaten,” ex-Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman charged Monday morning.

Also in IsraelNationalNews.com we are told about this afternoon’s attack of two powerful Grad Katyushas, fired from Hamas’ controlled Gaza, wounding one person in Ashkelon:

Ashkelon Mayor Roni Mahatzri said in response to the attacks, “Today is a sad day for Ashkelon. The government is ignoring what the residents are undergoing, the Prime Minister and Defense Minister are living in an illusion that there is a ‘calm.’ Rockets keep on exploding in Ashkelon, and the terrorists continue to wage war on the residents of the State of Israel. It’s about time that the government wake up and understand that we’re at war.”

I can only wonder – as I look at the 120 members of the Knesset – as I discount the assorted left wing MKs, and the Arab MKs (who seem more interested in destroying Israel’s Jewish character than in living together with dem Jooz and creating a new paradise in the Middle East), where are the men on the right? Where are those who claim to truly believe, to truly love the Land of Israel and its Jewish heritage? Are there no men left?!?!?

In Pirkey Avot – Ethics of the Fathers, we are taught: Bemakom she’en anashim, hishtadel lihyiot ish! – In a place where there are no men, strive to become a man! Is nobody striving, anymore? Does no one care?

    Chaim,
As I have recommended in the past, it’s time you threw your hat in the ring.
