From today’s Jerusalem Post:

Jordan bars Jews with religious items

Jordanian border officials refused to allow a group of Israeli tourists carrying religious objects such as talitot and tefillin to enter their country on Tuesday, saying it was “a safety measure” to avoid potential terror threats.

Thirty-six Israeli tourists on their way to Amman for a three-day tour were detained at the Sheikh Ali Hussein Crossing near Beit She’an at 6:30 a.m. and notified of a new regulation that prohibits entry into Jordan with tefillin, talitot, prayer books, Bibles or the Talmud.

“Our group was presented with two options,” said Alan Novetsky, a recent immigrant from New York who was accompanied on the tour by his wife. “Either enter Jordan without religious objects or go back to Israel.”

Novetsky said the group’s suitcases were thoroughly searched for religious items. “They seemed to know exactly what they were looking for.

Anything that smacks of a religious Jewish religious item is obviously dangerous. Ah, but, this is Jordan, not Saudi Arabia where one would expect such behavior. If you are a Jew, if you plan to keep your disgusting rituals there… don’t bother! Now, just consider that Jordan is a “moderate Islamic and pro Western” country, hmmmnn; consider that Jordan is one the parties working hard for a “just peace” between Israel and the Palestinians, hmmmnn…

“It was very demeaning to have such a negative experience in what is billed as a friendly country. People in the group, including the tour guides, were quite shocked. No one had ever heard that Jordan imposed religious restrictions,” he said.

“What made it worse was that the whole thing seemed to be directed solely at Jews. I saw Christians walking through into Jordan openly wearing crosses. Apparently, Christian religious symbols did not seem to be a problem for the Jordanians. I can well imagine the international outcry if Islamic tourists were to encounter such restrictions on their entry into Israel.”

A Jordanian security official said the decision was taken only for “security reasons.”

Yes, I can easily imagine the outcry, the roar by every Human Rights Organization in the world including the UN and its Human Rights Council, as this would be taken as a proof of official sanctioned Islmophobia by the Zionist Entity. Israeli embassies and other Western ones would be burned to the ground because of such… Notice the difference, gentle reader?

the whole thing seemed to be directed solely at Jews. I saw Christians walking through into Jordan openly wearing crosses.. Come now, gentle reader, they – the Jordanians – have to bow and kowtow to the West if they to continue being labeled as “moderates.” Besides, if they had stopped some Christians going through the crossing the West might have noticed. Frankly, when they only discriminate against Jews nobody notices, nobody cares. But don’t feel left out, the crocodile plans to savor you next!

The official said that the decision had been in effect for a long time and Israeli authorities were aware of it.

Maybe it had been in effect for a long time (doubtful!), but it certainly had never been enforced before.

“The Jordanian security authorities are responsible for the safety of all visitors to the kingdom and it is our duty to take all measures required in this regard,” the official explained. He expressed regret that the tourists had been offended by the measure.

Novetsky said that at first the the guides tried to bargain with the Jordanian officials, promising to keep the religious items hidden and to pray inside the hotel. But the suggestions were rejected.

“The vast majority of the group decided that as proud Israelis, we were either going to be allowed to walk into Jordan holding our religious objects or we would not go in at all.”

Et tu Jordania? That was the unkindest cut of all! Unkind, but hardly surprising…

If the epitome of diversity, France, can produce antisemitic shirts for sale

Why shouldn’t Jordan show its true colors.

I think Jordan must look good to the Moslem nations who are watching it, hoping to find a reason to hurt Jordan for being too darn friendly to the Israelis.
This gesture is therefore a show and I don’t agree that et tu is called for.

France, epitome of diversity? I disagree. This is no longer the 19th century. I think rather that France has been anti Semitic for some time now. Their hatred of Jews is especially notable lately because they have overinvited the floating Moslem wanderers who hover over Europe like vultures, looking for just a slightly open door through which they can push in and establish a new network. Now, France has allowed so many millions of Moslems in and they have made a mistake that they will not soon admit.
You don’t need to be paranoid to imagine a Moslem interest in world domination. You need only to read the Koran.
Who burned all the cars in France a short time ago? It worked. The French yelled loudly. But when it came to action, they fell for the intimidation and gave the Moslem “youth” plenty of jobs and opportunities they never had before the riots. So, once agin for the Islamists, violence worked. While the French Catholics want peace, they have inadvertently opened their doors to violence.
The French Catholics are afraid to fight back and the Moslems love that, because it gives them a chance to concentrate on the Jews. They will get to the Catholics later.

    Jermaine,
My comment for France was sarcastic. I constantly hear how “diverse” France is despite reading and viewing continuous proof of the opposite.
